Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems, Inc., has been awarded a five-year enterprise license contract to deliver the Digital Virtual Trainer (DVT) for the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND). The agreement includes three additional option years for maintenance support. The program will provide synthetic training to support mission readiness across the Canadian Army.

Built around BISim’s ecosystem of simulation products, the DVT enables Canadian Army personnel to plan, rehearse, execute, and review missions in virtual environments through first-person training and collective exercises.

“DVT gives instructors and trainees powerful tools to build readiness—whether they’re simulating a combined arms assault or conducting dismounted mission rehearsal,” said Pete Morrison, Chief Product Officer at BISim.

At the center of the DVT solution is Virtual Battlespace 4 (VBS4), paired with the Blue IG image generator to provide visual realism and integration with legacy systems. DVT is designed for interoperability with tools for exercise control and after-action review.

The program also includes TerraTools Platinum, BISim’s terrain generation software, which allows the creation of geo-specific, mission-tailored environments using GIS data. This capability supports training for rural maneuvers and urban operations.

The DVT contract follows a competitive evaluation process by the Canadian Department of National Defence.
