The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Vietnamese Army, participated in their first ever joint-training exercises in July.

The training exercises took place under the framework of the ongoing Vietnam-China Joint Army Training Program entitled “Together in Partnership – 2025.”

Both armies trained together at the Jianglong-Chongzuo training base in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

This event marks the first-ever joint training between the two armies, with both sides carrying out joint training in modules covering eight subjects including: camouflage reconnaissance; unmanned aerial vehicle reconnaissance; live-fire shooting and rescue of the wounded.

“During the training process, the participating ground forces closely coordinated, implementing the program as planned while ensuring absolute safety for personnel, weapons and equipment. This contributed to enhancing joint combat capabilities and handling situations to ensure security and safety in the border areas,” the Vietnamese Army said in a release.

The training also focussed on joint border patrol training, with personnel conducting mixed-group training around four aspects: joint reconnaissance; joint fire strike; joint rescue and joint logistic support.
