Instructors from the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC), based at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, shared insights into military medical training during a continuing education session at the American Medical Technologists (AMT) Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on July 23.
The team—Army Sgt. 1st Class Devin Bigelow, Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jessica McCleary, and Air Force Staff Sgt. Jheryl Stuckey—presented on strategies used to train combat medics and aerospace medical service apprentices. Their session, titled Elite Training Redefined: Cutting-Edge Strategies in Military Medical Education, aimed to highlight the effectiveness of METC’s instructional methods to a civilian healthcare audience.
Their presentation focused on advanced simulation tools, instructional delivery models, and the alignment between military and civilian medical education. The effort also served to increase national awareness of METC’s role in preparing military medics and foster connections with former service members now working in healthcare education.
