SkyAlyne has announced two major milestones in support of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program.
On September 9, SkyAlyne confirmed the signing of a contract with EllisDon Corporation to provide infrastructure design services for new training facilities. EllisDon will support projects at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Southport, Manitoba; and 17 Wing Winnipeg, Manitoba. These facilities will form a core component of the 25-year FAcT program, which will deliver pilot and aircrew training, including live-flying, simulation, and classroom instruction.
Just two days later, on September 11, SkyAlyne, along with Grob Aircraft, KF Aerospace, and CAE, joined the RCAF in welcoming the Grob G 120TP aircraft to Canada. Designated as the CT-102B Astra II in RCAF service, the aircraft represents the first to be delivered under the FAcT program. A public static display is scheduled at the Aero Gatineau-Ottawa air show, September 12–14, before the aircraft proceeds to 15 Wing Moose Jaw for operational use.
Together, these developments highlight progress in transitioning to FAcT as the sole ab initio training program for the RCAF. The program is currently managed from SkyAlyne’s Ottawa headquarters, with operations at three RCAF bases.
