Cubic Defense has been awarded a firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract by the U.S. Air Force (USAF). The contract covers delivery of 102 new P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS) pods equipped with the System Security Update (SSU) and Block 7 capabilities, with work to be completed by March 24, 2028.
The P5CTS SSU was developed to meet security requirements and is interoperable with 5th generation internal encrypted P5 subsystems. The Block 7 capability enables transfer of additional mission data to the P5 ground station to support adjudication of weapons and effects.
“Our solutions provide a low-risk, flight-tested, National Security Agency-certified Type 1 multilevel encryptor that enables or restricts the access and transfer of information between security domains on the P5CTS without modifying the existing training Concept of Operations," stated Russ Marsh, President, Cubic Defense.
Marsh noted that the modular system aims to sustain customer training needs through 2040 and beyond.
Cubic, along with subcontractor Leonardo DRS, will support all activities related to Block 7 upgrades and pod deliveries. The P5CTS is used by the USAF, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy, and coalition partners to transmit time, space, and position information (TSPI) of aircraft during training exercises, enabling joint and coalition training on a shared platform.
