Medical personnel from the U.S. and Indian Armies came together during Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025 for a joint academic exchange focused on strengthening medical readiness and interoperability. The sessions, held at the Fort Wainwright Medical Simulation Training Center, combined classroom instruction with hands-on demonstrations designed to prepare Soldiers for high-altitude and Arctic operations.

The exchange included topics such as casualty evacuation procedures, antimicrobial resistance, cold-weather injury prevention, and infectious disease management. U.S. Army specialists highlighted approaches to planning and health service support, while Indian Army medical officers shared practices developed from their experience in mountainous terrain.

Col. (Dr.) Paul Robben of the 18th Theater Medical Command noted the value of preventive techniques demonstrated by Indian counterparts, including their routine hand and foot parade for frostbite prevention. Practical training further enabled participants to compare procedures for triage, stabilization, and evacuation under realistic conditions.

The event supported Exercise Yudh Abhyas’s broader aim of building bilateral readiness and enhancing medical capabilities for operations across the Indo-Pacific region.
