Ballad Health has launched a mobile simulation lab to deliver immersive healthcare training directly to students at seven Tennessee high schools through the new Ballad Health Academy. Starting Fall 2025, the program provides dual-enrollment courses, job-shadowing, and clinical simulations, thanks to a partnership with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.
Based at Indian Path Community Hospital in Kingsport, the mobile unit includes exam tables, diagnostic tools, and interactive monitors to simulate real clinical settings for up to 15 students at a time. This cost-effective approach removes barriers of location and infrastructure, making advanced healthcare education accessible to rural communities.
Part of a $250 million Bloomberg Philanthropies initiative, the Academy supports students in pursuing healthcare credentials or entering the workforce after graduation. Leaders say it not only addresses a national health workforce shortage but also inspires local students to pursue careers that strengthen their communities.
