Wärtsilä will invest approximately EUR 90 million to expand technical production capacity by 30% at its Sustainable Technology Hub (STH) in Vaasa, Finland. This follows a 35% capacity increase announced in February 2026, bringing the total planned expansion to 65% compared to 2025 capacity levels.
The STH, which opened in 2022, spans 90,000 square metres and employs more than 3,800 professionals. The hub houses a dedicated training centre alongside one of Wärtsilä's remote monitoring centres, serving customers worldwide. All engine types in Wärtsilä's portfolio are manufactured at the facility.
"Demand in the energy and marine markets continues to develop positively. Our customers turn to us for flexible and energy-efficient engine technologies to address their evolving power requirements," said Håkan Agnevall, President and CEO of Wärtsilä.
Since 2018, Wärtsilä has invested over EUR 490 million into the STH.
