Mining Operator Adopts Modular Simulator Training

South West Mining Limited (SWML) Barmer has added a Tecknotrove Advanced Excavator Simulator with interchangeable conversion kits to its operator training programme. The simulator uses a common platform, allowing operators to train on multiple excavator models with a single device.

The modular conversion kits let operators switch between different excavator configurations, working with machine controls, operating characteristics, and handling techniques in a virtual mining environment. This supports standardized training across a mixed equipment fleet.

The simulator allows operators to practice excavation, loading, bucket positioning, swing operations, and machine manoeuvring without interrupting production or exposing equipment to operational risks. Instructors can evaluate performance through measurable parameters such as cycle times, operational accuracy, and machine handling.

The simulator is also intended to reduce equipment wear, improve machine availability, and lower maintenance costs. Exposure to site conditions is intended to reinforce safe operating procedures.
