Diamond Visionics Awards Prize at IT FLIES USA 2016 Competition

Diamond Visionics, a provider of 3D visualization and image generation, gave a cash award to the winners of the “IT FLIES USA 2016” competition at the University of Dayton.

The competition, sponsored by Merlin Flight Simulation Group, featured student teams from the University of Dayton and the University of Manchester in England who created their own designs of a fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft. Test pilots from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base evaluated each presentation and then flew the aircraft in the university’s newly upgraded visual on the MP521 simulator.

Diamond Visionics, creators of the GenesisRTX visual graphics used during the competition, awarded a cash prize for “The Most Innovative Design” to Manchester University's rotary wing design team of Cian Hanley, Matthew Hogg and Mitchel Follet.

“What made this competition truly unique,” said Daniel Peters, sales manager of Diamond Visionics, “is that the University of Dayton has invested in a fully integrated flight simulation system and instructor station, one of the few universities in the US to have done so. This enables the students to test their designs with the same visual software as the military and commercial pilots training around the world.”
