As a leading European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved training organisation, Resource Group has launched a new, modular Airside Safety training course to complement their existing online training portfolio.

The course will support clients in meeting the Commission Regulation (EU) No 139/2014 in which the aerodrome operator is to establish and implement a training programme for personnel involved in the operation, maintenance and management of an aerodrome.

Safety is the most important factor in any aviation operational activity which is why not only EASA but also ICAO state that an aircraft operator should ensure that all operational personnel are trained an competent to operate in those safety-critical areas. The new course will provide the background, awareness and details of hazards that can be found in the airside area. Modules covered include safety and security, airside hazards, driving airside, adverse weather, emergencies and an overview of airside safety rules.

Ian Fitzpatrick, managing director of Resource Group Training Solutions Division commented: "As an industry embedded training provider we are well aware of the importance of airside safety to the industry. We also recognise the operational challenges faced by our clients in releasing mobile and shift-based workers to attend classroom based training. For these reasons we have leveraged our existing online training capabilities and significant track record in Air Traffic and Aviation Technical training to design a training programme to meet the needs of our clients from a position of understanding.

Whilst airside hazards are always present, our new airside safety course will provide students with an understanding of what these hazards are and a knowledge of the rules that are required to minimise their impact."
