Lufthansa Technik Group welcomes 151 new students

151 new young people have just started either traditional or dual-study training programs with the Lufthansa Technik Group, meaning the company is now home to 569 young people on their way to professions in technical aircraft services or aircraft logistics.

Of the 151, 76 of the new trainees are beginning programs in Hamburg, 44 are based in Frankfurt, 16 are in Arnstadt, 11 are in Alzey and four are in Munich.

The range of programs for electronics technicians was expanded once again. In Hamburg, 15 trainees have begun a program to become electronics technicians for devices and systems and will go on to work in specialised workshops. 18 aircraft electronics specialists are being prepared across Hamburg and Frankfurt for work on aircraft in hangars.

95 young people have begun their training directly at Lufthansa Technik and another 11 will be starting at Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey, the Lufthansa Technik Group company that specialises in overhauling smaller jet and propeller engines. With this step, Lufthansa Technik AERO Alzey is expanding its training capacity (it now has a total of 31 training slots) to safeguard the company's growth over the long term.

Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services (LTLS) has 25 new trainees for the future-oriented profession of warehouse logistics specialist as well as four people training to become specialists in forwarding and logistics services. This is likewise an increase in the company's training commitment. With 65 training slots in total, LTLS has the largest training program in the Lufthansa Technik Group aside from its parent company.

N3 Engine Overhaul Services, a 50:50 joint venture with Rolls-Royce headquartered in Arnstadt in Thuringia, has also increased the number of training slots it offers. With a total of 51 current trainees, the location is now home to 15 new young people training to become aircraft mechanics for engine technology and one warehouse logistics specialist trainee.

The percentage of women among the new trainees is 13% this year, and thus a satisfying 5 percentage points higher than last year. The company will continue to pursue its efforts of recent years to interest women in the technology professions of the future.

Of the 76 trainees in Hamburg, most will become aircraft mechanics with specialties in repair technology (12), engine technology (6), and manufacturing technology (6), together with trainees in aircraft electronics (6) and the new profession of electronics technician for devices and systems (15) that was introduced in 2016. They are joined by 11 tool mechanics, two surface coating technicians; and at LTLS, eight warehouse logistics specialists and four specialists for forwarding and logistics services.

In addition, there are new trainees in Hamburg for the following degree-based professions: three practice-oriented aircraft engineers (Bachelor of Engineering), a practice-oriented electrical engineer (Bachelor of Science), two mechanical engineers (Bachelor of Science) and two students of mechatronics (Bachelor of Science). The degree coursework for these programs takes place at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.

In Frankfurt, 12 trainees will become aircraft mechanics specialising in repair technology, 12 are training as aircraft electronics specialists, 13 as warehouse logistics specialists (at LTLS)and two specialists for forwarding and logistics services (at LTLS). Five trainees are beginning a dual-study program in aviation system engineering and management for maintenance engineers (Bachelor of Engineering) in cooperation with the Bremen University of Applied Sciences.

In Arnstadt, fifteen aircraft mechanic trainees with a specialty in engine technology will strengthen N3 Engine Overhaul Services' workforce. In addition, one person will begin training as a warehouse logistics specialist.

In Alzey, ten slots were filled by aircraft mechanic trainees with a specialty in engine technology, and one person is beginning a dual-study program leading to a Bachelor of Engineering in conjunction with the University of Kaiserslautern.

Finally, in Munich, three trainees are beginning at LTLS with the goal of becoming specialists in warehouse logistics.
