Tulmar Safety Systems (Tulmar) has created a family of scaled-down versions of emergency evacuation slides designed to expose a large number of trainees to the equipment in the confined space of a classroom.
The slides are offered in standard configurations equipped with all the signage and markings, tie-downs, sea lights, re-entry straps and other emergency essentials and can include a fully detachable girt.
“Because of increased pressure on airlines to train flight crews in growing numbers, we see that airlines want to increase the use of classrooms for teaching,” explained Patrick Phillips, VP Business Development at Tulmar. “Even with the increasing use of virtual reality-based training solutions, in the words of some of our customers, you cannot replace the experience of touching and feeling. This is especially true when it comes to practicing girt detachment, for example.”
In a study released in 2017, Boeing estimated that 839,000 new cabin crew will be needed worldwide over the next 20 years to meet the growing demand for air travel.
