Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) launched a Bachelor of Arts in International Business with Aviation Studies program specifically aimed at trained pilots in the aviation industry. The online program, which CIT says is the first of its kind in Europe, will build on the training of experienced pilots, and will give them business knowledge and skills training.
CIT says its program recognizes the extensive learning involved in becoming a commercial level pilot through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. The school equates this to years one and two of a four-year Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in International Business with Aviation Studies. The school is accepting applications now for the new course that acts as years three and four of the Bachelor of Arts degree. The part-time, online course is designed to deliver key content, skills and knowledge with a broadened perspective on International Business.
The program was developed with input from major airlines and the Atlantic Flight Training Academy in Cork. It will address challenges in the industry, such as pilot retention and ongoing training,
