Construction has begun on the BAA Training China facility in Zhengzhou city, Henan province.

A ground breaking ceremony took place on Oct 25 at the site, which is scheduled to open in the second half of 2020. When fully open, it will house six full flight simulators.

BAA expects the facility will provide the capacity for 40,000 flight hours per year and train approximately 4,000 pilots.  BAA Training China will also provide cabin crew and ground handling aviation training.

Boeing recently updated their forecasts, stating that Chinese carriers will need 8,090 new planes until 2038. This exceeds the previously predicted figure by 5.2%.

"Not only we are eager to enter China’s aviation training market, but also work on synergies with local government and partners in order to contribute to the Henan aviation market development projects," said Egle Vaitkeviciute, BAA Training CEO.

The $60 million training base is jointly funded by the Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Company and BAA Training.
