The Paris-based Modelling and Simulation Group has just opened the online registration for its Annual Simulation Symposium, to be held on 19 and 20 October 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal.

These annual events are intended to provide an overview of current NATO M&S developments and employments.

The theme of this year's conference is: "M&S Technologies and Standards for Enabling Alliance Interoperability and Pervasive M&S Applications". The conference will look at developments that provide cost-effective and valid simulation tools to NATO focusing on:

  • Real-world modelling (terrain and behaviour)
  • M&S as a Service
  • Composable simulations
  • C2-Simulation interoperability
  • Interoperability verification testing

The conference will be chaired by Wim Huiskamp, Chief Scientist M&S (TNO) and LTC Rui Magalhaes, Armament Programs and Disposals Deputy (MoD Portugal). Keynote addresses from the host nation and NATO representatives are on the agenda, as well as an invited talk given by Dr. Andreas Tolk (The MITRE Corporation) about Interoperability and Commposability. In total, twenty papers addressing the before mentioned topics have been selected by the Programme Committee.

The combination of M&S users and developers concentrated in this one forum will not only educate attendees, but also provide fresh ideas for the furtherance and effective use of M&S in NATO. The event is open to NATO and Partner Nations and invited observers; admission is free of charge. Online registration is available on the dedicated Science & Technology event booking page.
