The American Case Management Association (ACMA) hasannounced new content, course offerings and simulation scenarios with its 2020Compass Directional Training and Advanced Care Transitions Simulation (ACTS)learning systems. These resources provide comprehensive learning, training andassessment content for new and experienced case management professionals.

The February 1 release of 2020 Compass will incorporate Transitionsof Care (TOC) Standards throughout all content for all care settings includingnew and expanded courses in care management, behavioral health, socialdeterminants and updates to federal regulations like the 2020 IPPS final rules.Compass can be used for validating the knowledge component of onboarding andannual competency, providing new continuing education opportunities fornursing, social work or those who have earned their Accredited Case Manager(ACM) or Case Management Administrator (CMAC) certification. In addition,Compass offers AMA PRA Category 1 Credits for physicians.

ACTS is simulation-based education for case managers andsocial workers that bridges the gap between theory and practice, making it acomplement to Compass training. ACTS 2020 adds new educational content andscenarios in elder abuse, Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON), strokeadmission, advance care planning in ambulatory and acute care settings, andadvance beneficiary notice.

Through live simulation scenarios and video format, healthcare facilities can enrich and validate case management competency in a safeenvironment. “As a seasoned case manager, after attending the SIM Lab I feltinspired, re-energized, focused and motivated to serve our patients,” said NehaDesai, MSW, Clinical Case Manager, Inova Loudoun Hospital.

Content for 2020 Compass and ACTS is developed and maintained by an interdisciplinary task force of case management and physician adviser leaders.
