Quantum3D-Nigeria

Quantum3D has completed a custom Nigeria terrain database for one of the major aerospace companies. With the completion of this project, Nigerian pilots will be able to train in more realistic terrain environments of the whole country of Nigeria.

The entire Nigeria landmass has been created successfully by the team of Quantum3D Terrain developers and 3D modelers. All the requirements have been completed in a much shorter time than originally planned.

As requested by the customer, the Quantum3D team has also modeled 47 airfields as part of this project. Some of these airports are very high resolution, high fidelity, Level D compliant, and contain detailed geo-specific buildings which are surrounded by geo-typical buildings and trees. The remaining modeled airports are medium resolution and contain control tower, tower beacon, taxiway, ramps, and runway lighting, and they can be converted to a Level D compliant airport when needed.

This Nigeria terrain database is created in OGC standard CDB format, which enables the creation and modification of run-time databases within minutes or hours instead of weeks or months. The terrain database fully supports Infrared (IR) simulation utilizing the ViXsen and Quest2 plug-ins of MANTIS, Quantum3D’s real-time scene management and image generation software.
