Flight Attendant Class Resumes at Delta After 523 Days

This October, Delta Air Lines graduated its first class of flight attendants since the pandemic began. The 24 flight attendants in “G Class” were in the middle of week five of training when Delta had to halt operations in 18 March 2020. The group was brought back to train 23 August, 523 days later, and now celebrate their long-awaited Delta wings.

During those 523 days, Delta provided regular updates and continued to promise that G Class would be the first to come back for training.

"Our group was special," Gail Clarke, Delta G Class graduate told Delta. "In that 18 months, we had a baby born, parents pass away, someone found out they had, and then beat, cancer… and we all made it because of the amazing support we had from one another."

The class became close during the time apart. When classes resumed in August, they were separated among several classes, but still remained close.

While G Class, now renamed A Class, had to repeat much of their training, they were thrilled just to be back.

These friends are in addition to roughly 1,500 flight attendants who made it through the hiring processes before the pandemic began, along with another 1,500 Delta is currently seeking to hire for its 2021-2022 class.
