Swansea University Orders New MP521 Simulator

• The second simulator will increase the capacity for undergraduate and postgraduate Aerospace degree students
• Opens opportunities for the school to conduct research

The School of Engineering at Swansea University has ordered a second motion based MP521 Academic Engineering Flight Simulator from Merlin Flight Simulation Group.  This will complement their existing simulation suite of a motion based MP521 and two desk top MP500-2s.

This latest addition to Swansea’s simulation suite will be on a six axis electric motion system.

The entire Swansea University Merlin based flight simulation suite will be upgraded to the latest Diamond Visionics Genesis visual graphics, and the new MP521 will have the Merlin S’Fun Matlab interface software.

Dr Ben Evans, Head of Aerospace Engineering said: “Swansea University and Merlin have a longstanding relationship and the Merlin flight simulator suite at Swansea has become a vital component in the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate Aerospace degree programmes. We are excited that the purchase of a new motion flight system from Merlin will increase the capacity and quality of the flight simulation experience that we can offer our students and it opens up opportunities for us to exploit our Merlin simulators for cutting-edge research.”
