This is the first in a series of short articles on developments in flight simulation training devices for military, human-in-the-cockpit, rotary- and fixed wing aircraft. These articles will include “deep dives,” highlighting innovations in the devices themselves and in their underpinning technology foundations. Additionally, the series will identify the collaborative industry teams and acquisition program dynamics enabling the delivery of new FSTDs. The training devices in these articles will be randomly selected from military training enterprises around the globe.
The biennial Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition took place September 12-15 2023 at ExCel London. Among the ships, tanks and aircraft there was plenty of simulation and training to see. MS&T Special Correspondent Andy Fawkes reports.
Building on their partnership, CAE Madrid will become Air Europa’s pilot and cabin crew training base, using its latest generation CAE 7000 XR-Series Level D FFS and a new door trainer.
Collaborating with industry experts, students will engage in a learning journey that includes research, experimentation, theory classes, guest lectures, workshops, and projects, all centered on the practical application and exploration of AR, VR, and MR technologies.
With its three-dimensional interface, users can interact with digital content in a way that feels like it is physically present in their space. The training possibilities could be endless.
The integration will enable anything – from objects and infrastructure to real-life situations and scenarios – to be scanned and simulated in photo-real virtual reality as digital twins.
