Aerosim Technologies have signed a 12-year contract with Virgin Atlantic Airways to deliver a B787 ETHOS Systems Knowledge Suite, an A330 and a B747 virtual flight deck (VFD).

The ETHOS Systems Knowledge Suite combines self-paced distance learning, general subjects, flight deck famliarization, Advanced FMS Skills and self-assessment and testing capabilities. The VFD is a desktop training solution which provides a fully simulated flight deck and allows for in-depth training on aircraft systems.

"Aerosim is excited to continue our collaboration with Virgin Atlantic providing their B787 courseware following on from the placement of the B747 virtual procedure trainer at the training center," said Simon Newcombe, commercial director EMEA, Aerosim Technologies.

Paul Swain, senior manager, Training Ground (Regulatory), Virgin Atlantic, commented: "Our technical training department is now benefiting from using the Aerosim devices which allow training to be more integrated, as ETHOS and the VFD's fit in with the traditional approach to training. The ETHOS Suite can be delivered on a desktop or tablet providing greater system flexibility and knowledge. This allows better utilization when using the more expensive devices such as FTD and full flight simulators."
