Sri Lankan carrier FitsAir has been certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), allowing it to conduct Airbus A320 type rating training internally.
The approval covers a range of programmes, including cadet and junior first officer initial training, A320 conversion and requalification, A330/A320 cross-crew qualification, and licence revalidation. FitsAir is also authorised to deliver TRI/SFI courses to develop its own flight instructors.
Training will use CAASL-approved Airbus A320 Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs). The move reduces reliance on overseas facilities and is intended to support the development of local pilot expertise.
"By bringing Airbus A320 type training in-house, we enhance training quality, improve flexibility, and build a stronger pipeline of skilled pilots for both FitsAir and the wider aviation industry,” Ammar Kassim, Executive Director, FitsAir said in a statement.
