Guilford Technical Community College has begun construction on the first phase of a new aviation campus near Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina. The $34.6 million, 70,000-square-foot facility will expand the college’s aviation programs, including composites, structures, assembly, aviation manufacturing, and avionics. The new building is expected to open in Spring 2027 and increase GTCC’s student capacity by 40 percent, serving more than 700 learners annually.
GTCC’s aviation programs provide hands-on skills in aircraft systems repair, flight operations, quality control, and composite manufacturing, preparing students for FAA and other industry certifications. Phase two of the campus will add another 70,000 square feet, including a second building and parking, potentially doubling student capacity. The project aims to strengthen the region’s aviation workforce and support high-demand aerospace jobs in Guilford County.
