A new virtual reality flight simulator for Airbus H125 helicopter training has been introduced, combining immersive VR visuals with certified flight simulation technology.
The Veris H125 simulator has been developed by Reiser Simulation and Training in collaboration with TRU Simulation + Training Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc. and affiliate of Textron Aviation.
The simulator is built on TRU Simulation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Level 7-qualified Veris platform. It combines Reiser’s flight controls, cockpit panels and H125 simulation model, which is also used in Level D full flight simulators.
The system incorporates TRU Simulation’s REALvision image generator, designed for VR devices to support visual immersion during flight training. It also includes a fully electric six-degrees-of-freedom motion base intended to reproduce flight cues and aircraft vibration.
The simulator uses the same flight data, software baselines and technologies used in TRU Simulation’s Level D full flight simulators, including the REALFeel control loading system.
Tactile cockpit panels allow pilots to operate switches and avionics in a way consistent with the Airbus H125 aircraft. A VR headset replaces the traditional visual system to immerse pilots in the simulated flight environment.
The system is intended to support helicopter pilot training by combining high-fidelity controls, motion systems and VR-based visuals in a deployable simulator platform.
