Cubic Defense has completed delivery of advanced shoot-back and tracking systems to SAFTI City, the world’s largest urban training facility. The project included laser-based systems with automatic target detection, recognition, and instrumentation, aimed at enhancing live urban combat training.
The installation featured an advanced computer vision system that enables autonomous shoot-back capabilities, 11,000 sensors—including 8,000 ultra-wideband building anchors—and 3,000 shoot-through-wall modules. The new soldier tracking system allows seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments, while vehicle instrumentation now shows crews the direction of incoming fire.
Alicia Combs, Cubic’s Ground Training Vice President and General Manager, said, “The soldier system enables seamless tracking from outdoors to indoors, by using GPS and radio communications outside and pairing with building infrastructure to use ultra-wideband communications indoors.”
Cubic’s work at SAFTI City involved team members from Cubic Defence New Zealand, Cubic Technologies Singapore and Cubic Defence Australia.
