The Department of Defense has selected Michigan's National All-Domain Warfighting Center as a key facility for advanced unmanned aerial systems training and testing, supporting implementation of President Trump's June 2025 executive order on American drone development.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, along with the Army and National Guard Bureau, designated NADWC for its role in UAS and counter-UAS capabilities development. The facility encompasses nearly 148,000 acres at Camp Grayling and the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, plus 17,000 square miles of special use military airspace including over Lake Huron.

NADWC offers a 60-mile dedicated drone corridor, Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight autonomous operations capability, and access to 6,000 available frequencies in clean electromagnetic spectrum for advanced UAS testing.

The facility enables integrated training across land, air, maritime, cyber, and space domains, with infrastructure supporting live-fire ranges, air-to-air maneuvers, counter-UAV technology testing, and electronic warfare operations.
