Fort Hunter Liggett has completed a $5.6 million modernization of its Multipurpose Range Complex (MPRC), enhancing training capabilities for Army Reserve units. The two-year project included significant upgrades such as an automated targetry system, expanded battle positions, new infantry clusters, improved crossover roads, and a secure vehicle staging area. The renovations support more dynamic and realistic combat training scenarios, allowing Soldiers to refine skills in convoy operations, threat assessment, and tactical movement.
The facility also added a bivouac site for extended training exercises and improved infrastructure for troop comfort and functionality. The MPRC is set to support Operation Mojave Falcon, a large-scale Army Reserve training exercise, as its first major use following completion. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah office managed the phased upgrades, with future improvements already planned. The project aligns with Fort Hunter Liggett’s mission to provide comprehensive training environments that prepare service members for complex operational challenges.
