The Indian Army has spotlighted simulation‑driven decision‑making with a national seminar on 20 February at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, organised by the Wargaming Development Centre (WARDEC).

Senior commanders, academics and industry leaders examined how multi‑domain simulations and AI‑enabled analytics can sharpen operational planning, leadership development and doctrinal innovation. In his keynote, Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, GOC‑in‑C Army Training Command, framed wargaming as a strategic instrument to validate assumptions and build adaptive thinking, and called for simulation‑driven analysis to be embedded in institutional planning and preparedness.

The Army underscored a push for indigenous capability under Atmanirbharta, launching three WARDEC tools: the Auto Evaluation Map Marking Tool, Combat Decision Resolution v9, and Automated Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield.

Discussions highlighted practitioner–academic collaboration, standards alignment, and integration of AI/ML, big data, VR and AR into operationally relevant environments, alongside military–industry co‑development pathways. An accompanying exhibition showcased advanced simulation platforms from across India’s ecosystem.

Closing the event, Lieutenant General Zubin A Minwalla stressed the need for a self‑reliant, future‑ready wargaming enterprise to support doctrinal evolution and decision superiority.
