MASS, part of the Cohort plc Group, has launched the latest version of its Networked Electronic Warfare Training Simulator, NEWTS IQ. The platform supports electronic warfare (EW) and communications intelligence (COMINT) training in classrooms and in the field, providing a realistic environment for UK CEMA military personnel.

NEWTS IQ trains personnel in EW and COMINT fundamentals, including identifying hostile radio signals, extracting intelligence, and preparing reports. It combines classroom-based simulation with field training, allowing users to follow all elements of the intelligence cycle. The platform integrates the SESCO methodology to cover training from initial simulation through to operational readiness.

Stuart (Taph) Willumsen, Head of Spectrum Warfare Training at MASS, said: "While it remains a vital part of military training to enable operators to understand the technical and tactical aspects of EW activity, the pressures and strains of the battlespace cannot be replicated in a classroom environment alone. The NEWTS IQ platform has been designed to serve the next generation of operators, with software that is standardised, repeatable, and simulates extremely challenging scenarios in increasingly realistic environments.”

The platform allows trainers to manage scenarios, assess student performance, and combine classroom and field-based learning to build practical skills prior to operational deployment. MASS experts are presenting NEWTS IQ at EW Live 2025.
