A next-generation V9000 Commander fire trainer from Flame Aviation was inaugurated at RAF Brize Norton on April 1, coinciding with the 108th anniversary of the Royal Air Force.

The Royal Air Force is now the first air force in the world to train crews for inflight fire scenarios using an airline-grade fire trainer, marking an advancement in military aviation safety and training standards.

The V9000 Commander enables realistic training of onboard fire and smoke scenarios, equipping crews with the skills to respond effectively in critical situations.

Flame Aviation's CEO Robin Pijnaker commented: "This moment holds special significance for us. Exactly 10 years after the founding of Flame Aviation, we are proud to support the Royal Air Force in setting a new global benchmark in fire training."

The project was delivered in close collaboration with Thales and AirTanker.
