HII personnel at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada collaborated with U.S. Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force F-35 pilots in a joint exercise using the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE). Designed as one of the Air Force’s most advanced synthetic training platforms, the JSE offers immersive battlespace scenarios for developing and refining strategies against evolving threats.

The training, hosted by the U.S. Air Force’s 31st Combat Training Squadron, focused on preparing Royal Australian Air Force crews to operate F-35 simulators against contractor adversary forces. HII contributed to software development, integration, and operational support for the JSE system.

“Joint training opportunities like the one we just accomplished with our Australian counterparts are invaluable when it comes to aircrew readiness,” said Tom Atkins, HII JITTC-N site lead. "The JSE provides a dramatic uplift in operational realism and the way pilots prepare for combat, and we’re excited to play a key role in bringing this critical training capability to the military’s tactical aviation community.”

Feedback from the event was used to enhance mission execution in subsequent training sessions.
