Latvia Chosen as Drone Simulation Training Hub

nordfen AG, a Swiss drone technology startup, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with "Drone Force – Europe" to develop drone simulation technology and operator training in Latvia. The partners signed the agreement in Riga, with plans for the training solutions to be used across Europe.

nordfen chose Latvia for its experience in uncrewed technologies and existing training infrastructure. Under the partnership, Drone Force – Europe will provide training infrastructure, instructors and programmes, while nordfen will build simulation technology using geospatial and Earth observation data to create training environments.

Viesturs Silenieks, Chairman of the Board of "Drone Force - Europe", said: “Our partnership with nordfen will enable us to build a simulator that accurately reflects the Latvian environment and can be adapted to specific mission profiles—from reconnaissance and resupply to operations in electronically contested environments. The simulator will support training for the armed forces, the State Police and the State Fire and Rescue Service, while ensuring that all training data is securely stored in Latvia.”
