Zen Technologies, an Indian simulation and training services company has received an order from India’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) to supply tank crew gunnery training simulators for the Indian Army. The company pegged the order value at Rupees 1.08 billion (USD 12.2 million), with deliveries to be concluded in 2026.
The latest order is for a more advanced version of the previously supplied systems for realistic gunnery drills, with manual and stabilization modes, ammunition selection (APFSDS, HEAT, HE) and loading methods, laser range-finder use, and manual range-setting.
Zen Technologies supplied its first tank simulators to the Indian Army over a decade ago.
In a company release Zen Technologies stated that the procurement was a direct outcome of the Indian MoD’s Simulation Framework released in September 2021, which recognized simulation-based training as a strategic priority for force modernization.
Zen Technologies’ Tank Crew Gunnery Simulator (CGS) is used for training tank commanders and gunners and fully replicates a T-90 MBTs turret compartment, including sights, control panels, instruments, and indicators.
It supports gunnery drills related to target acquisition and engagement, including lead calculation for moving targets, lasing, and firing the main gun or machine gun. The CGS comprises of an instructor station (with displays, joystick, intercom), a trainee cabin (mock turret, seats, realistic controls, OTW visuals), and a motion platform that simulates vehicle dynamics (such as slope, recoil).
The containerized simulator is easily transportable but can also be installed in a fixed location.
