The Asia Pacific Airline Training Symposium (APATS) is getting a significant enhancement for 2025 with the addition of a dedicated ATO/Ab Initio Training Conference. This new specialised stream will focus exclusively on the foundational stages of pilot development, addressing one of the most critical areas in aviation training today.

The stream will thoroughly explore the vital connection between early-stage training and operational readiness, ensuring that future pilots are not only technically qualified but also thoroughly prepared for the real-world challenges of airline operations.

"This dedicated conference represents our commitment to addressing the complete pilot training lifecycle," said Jaques Drappier, APATS Conference Chair.

"By focusing specifically on the foundational stages of pilot development, we're providing a much-needed forum for ATOs, airlines and training providers to collaborate on solutions that will shape aviation's future.”

Innovation in Training Approaches

The conference will showcase how Approved Training Organisations (ATOs) and airlines are reimagining ab initio training through innovative methodologies, including early-stage competency-based training programmes and streamlined pipeline initiatives.

Attendees will gain valuable insights into creating stronger alignments between ATO practices and airline operational requirements, facilitating smoother transitions from training to cockpit.

Emerging technologies will feature prominently, with sessions dedicated to exploring how virtual reality, artificial intelligence and advanced simulation tools are transforming cadet training. The programme will also address pressing workforce challenges, offering fresh perspectives on addressing the global pilot shortage through smart, efficient training models.

Unparalleled Networking Opportunities

APATS 2025 is expected to attract over 700 aviation training professionals from more than 40 countries, providing extensive networking opportunities with key decision-makers from airlines, training academies, universities, regulatory bodies and industry suppliers.

The comprehensive exhibition hall will feature more than 50 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in training products and services. Attendees will have direct access to fixed-wing training providers, equipment manufacturers, simulator developers, and software and content specialists.

Expert-Led Programme

The conference programme will feature presentations and panel discussions from prominent industry figures addressing current and future training issues directly affecting organisations across the sector. Topics will span the complete training spectrum, from personnel selection and recruitment strategies to regulatory developments and emerging training technologies.
