At APATS 2025 in Singapore, Halldale joined ASTi for a live demonstration of SERA, their revolutionary Simulated ATC Environment (SATCE) tool.
Presented by Neil Waterman (Commercial Aviation Director), Jeremy Goodman (Industry Consultant, SATCE), and Kerrenton Snow (Application Engineer), the session highlighted how SERA is transforming the realism and effectiveness of pilot training.
SERA immerses pilots in a dynamic, AI-driven ATC environment, complete with synthetic controllers, real-time voice interaction, and simulated traffic.
During the demonstration, Kerrenton Snow flew a full approach into Washington D.C., interacting with multiple synthetic controllers and receiving realistic instructions, frequency changes, and handoffs.
Described by the ASTi team as a “completely new” and “revolutionary” technology, SERA addresses a long-standing gap in simulator realism. It enables pilots to train under realistic workload conditions, supporting Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA), Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) programmes, and Evidence-Based Training (EBT).
Already adopted by major airlines, SERA is helping align simulator training with real-world operational demands, bringing the industry closer to the goal of “train as you fly, fly as you train.”
