Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa opened the William G. Smith Simulation Center to give health care students and professionals the opportunity for hands-on learning. The Simulation Center is currently being used as a part of Nursing and EMS student clinical curriculums, and will be available later this year for use by healthcare professionals.

The 10,000 square-foot center has two classrooms and eight simulation labs: a medical-surgical room; a labor and delivery room; a nursery; a pediatric room; an apartment setting; and an emergency department with a skills lab and an ambulance simulator. The center also has nine life-size high-fidelity mannequins programmed to replicate an array of patient conditions ranging from newborns to geriatrics.
