Radford University inaugurates expanded clinical simulation center

Radford University inaugurated its newly expanded simulation lab at the Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC).

The $1.8 million, 1,800 square-foot expansion includes renovations to almost 3,000 square-feet of the Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) will allow the RHEC tol provide higher education programs in over 200 programs of study through member institutions and grant access to workforce training.

Operated by the School of Nursing in Radford’s Waldron College of Health and Human Services, The CSC will offer additional services to train nursing students from Radford, Jefferson College of Health Science and Patrick Henry Community College through simulations and life-like learning experiences. These new services include additional hospital rooms, exam rooms, interview rooms, and an apartment room. The CSC staff developed evidence-based and peer-reviewed programs that control the simulation scenarios.

Radford’s Clinical Simulation Center was the first simulation center in the state of Virginia to receive accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare back in 2014 and is now one of  65 accredited simulation centers in the nation.
