Kirkwood Community College hosted a large-scale healthcare simulation on November 12–13 at its Katz Family Healthcare Simulation Center, giving Nursing, Paramedic, and Respiratory Therapy students the opportunity to practice responding to critical care situations. The 12,000-square-foot center replicated real-world emergencies, allowing students from multiple disciplines to work together to assess, stabilize, and treat patients under realistic conditions.

The Katz Family Healthcare Simulation Center, Iowa’s first fully integrated multidisciplinary simulation facility, includes seven patient care areas, ten medical simulators, and advanced audio/visual technology. It serves both credit and non-credit health programs, as well as regional healthcare partners, supporting hands-on training that strengthens teamwork, communication, and decision-making essential for patient care.
