Tokyo edged out Boston and London to be crowned world's Best Hospital City in a ranking designed by German digital healthcare provider Medbelle.
The ranking determined the top locations around the world for hospital infrastructure in terms of quality, accessibility and ecosystem. The study analysed all hospitals within a city, so for a city to rank highly the quality of all hospitals within their region must be high.
Tokyo claimed the highest overall quality of care score, with the highest top-ranking hospitals score and a high access score.
Boston had the highest overall infrastructure score, including the best top-ranking medical universities, high top-ranking hospitals and mental health specialists.
Paris finished fourth behind London with the French capital achieving the highest overall access score of any nation.
Seoul, Munich, Melbourne, Amsterdam, Basel and Berlin rounded out the top 10.
Medbelle conducted a second best hospital city ranking for U.S. cities with Boston beating Los Angeles and New York to the title. Batimore, Chicago, San Francisco, Ann Arbor, San Jose, Houston and Seattle also featured in the top 10.
Medbelle said the ranking celebrated the cities successfully offering high-quality medical care to all of its citizens. The cities were chosen based on the presence of top-ranking hospitals, according to well-known hospital rankings.
