UNESCO has launched augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) training workshops in Thailand’s Ranong Biosphere Reserve to support marine conservation education. Held on 30 June and 1 July 2025, these workshops introduce teachers and site managers to the Sustaining Our Oceans (SOO) AR/VR Diving Library.

This educational package offers virtual dives through mangroves, coral reefs, and deep-sea ecosystems, complemented by challenge-based games and interactive lab kits. Participants will learn to integrate these immersive tools into classroom lessons and visitor programs, aiming to inspire critical thinking and real-world problem-solving.

The initiative targets primary and secondary school teachers, community learning centre educators, and site managers, helping them encourage youth engagement with marine biodiversity. With marine ecosystems threatened by pollution, UNESCO’s project seeks to equip the next generation in Southeast Asia with the skills and knowledge needed for ocean conservation.
