Enhancing Training for Officers and Associates

The Mercy Health Protective Services team received a $37,000 grant from the Mercy Health Foundation – Mahoning Valley to purchase the Ti Training System, new simulation equipment that allows both officers and associates to train in high-stress scenarios that build upon their current knowledge and training.

The new simulator is located within the Mercy Health Training Center where our protective services unit conducts exercises and drills using full-scale reproductions of the three Mercy Health hospitals.

“Health care facilities should promote healing,” said Ryan Bonacci, Chief, Mercy Health Protective Services Department. “Our officers and associates work around the clock to not only care for patients but to ensure our facilities remain focused on recovery. This technology allows us to further protect our patients and their families.”

In addition to enhancing care within the walls of Mercy Health, the new technology has been used by local law enforcement agencies who have hosted community members for a behind the scene look at simulated trainings that agencies undergo.
