PLAAF-2022-Cadet-Pilot-Recruitment

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) has recruited over 1,000 senior high school graduates as pilot cadets this year. These recruitments also mark the end of the PLAAF’s 2022 recruitment drive.

The PLAAF began the process of independently admitting pilot cadets 30 years ago. According to information posted on an official military news website of the Chinese Armed Forces, the number of newly admitted pilot cadets this year set a new high. This was also the first time that the PLAAF deployed a Y-20 transport aircraft to send the newly-admitted pilot cadets to the Aviation University of Air Force for registration,

60 of the selected pilot cadets will spend three years at Peking University, Tsinghua University, or Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and then transfer to the Air Force Aviation University to receive aviation theory learning and flight training.

The PLAAF started training of pilot cadets jointly with the above mentioned universities in 2021.
