Halldale Group Editor Marty Kauchak is back with another clip from MS&T's 'Delving into Defence' podcast, this time Marty and the team are joined by VRAI Founder and Managing Director Niall Campion to talk analytics and data in the defence simulation training industry.

Campion, an award-winning editor, director and visual effects artist in the film and television industry before setting up VRAI in 2017, noted that during one of his company’s UK defense projects, a team collected 975 million data points from 39 active-duty pilots.

“That is too much data for one individual to analyze by themselves,” he declared. “That is where the power of AI comes in – to feed the data into a structured database. You tell it what ‘good’ looks like, so you can tell this pilot has performed this scenario well, and this other pilot hasn’t performed so well, and then you go find what the patterns are. Machine learning or algorithms can look at that data …and provide whatever the desired insight is.”

Marty, a former US Navy Captain, who served for more than 23 years in the surface warfare community, is joined by special correspondent Andy Fawkes and Halldale CEO and founder Andy Smith in this episode .
