Based on customer demand, Avsoft has developed a course that explores the important concepts, definitions, limitations, components and procedures related to Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT).

Topics discussed on the course include the definition of Controlled Flight Into Terrain and its contributing factors, mitigation, TAWS (including both GPWS and EGPWS), CFIT precursors, proper situational awareness and communication techniques, Terrain Avoidance and Escape Manoeuvre procedures.

The course is designed to provide pilots with over one hour of initial training. It concludes with an examination and on successful completion, a certificate is generated. The course complies with EASA, FAA, ICAO and Transport Canada regulations, and customers have the option of customising the course to be suitable for their periodic recurrent training.

Avsoft’s CFIT course will soon be complemented by an EGPWS course. General Subject courses, such as CFIT and EGPWS, are being developed alongside Avsoft’s extensive aircraft systems course library to provide a comprehensive training solution for its customers.

Avsoft also recently released a general subjects course related to Windshear.
