India is considering changes to its pilot training system to meet the increasing demand for pilots in the growing aviation industry. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is evaluating the addition of the Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) alongside the current Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).

A meeting with industry stakeholders is planned to discuss this potential transition. If approved, both CPL and MPL would be available, giving airlines options based on safety and operational preferences.

This move follows an earlier proposal to allow arts and commerce students to pursue CPL, a course previously limited to science students with physics and mathematics.
