Black Boxes Head to 35 Training Aircraft

FlyBy Aviation Academy, an EASA-approved pilot training organisation, has signed an agreement with FlyData.io to fit 35 aircraft with its smart flight data recorders (FDR) in September 2026.

The FDR acts as a black box for general aviation aircraft. It continuously records high-frequency flight data, including position, altitude, speed, pitch, bank, G-force, vibration, sound and cabin CO levels, and enables real-time live tracking of every aircraft in the fleet. After an incident or abnormal manoeuvre, the system can reconstruct the flight in 3D within minutes, according to the company.

FlyBy says it is the first flight training organisation in Spain, and one of the first in Europe, to deploy this type of fleet-wide system at this scale. It is also FlyData.io's largest contract to date by number of aircraft equipped.
