At the European Aviation Training Summit (EATS) in Portugal, Urbe Aero Flight Academy and Wizz Air presented a positive overview of their cadet programme and outlined plans for further development in Italy and Central-Western Europe. The partnership, launched two years ago as the Wizz Air Pathway Programme (WAPP), continues to grow, confirming its role in expanding pilot training capacity and supporting the airline’s regional expansion strategy. A recent example of this commitment is the investment in a new training centre at Rome Fiumicino Airport.
The programme allows cadets to begin their professional pilot careers at Italian bases including Milan, Rome, Catania, Naples, and Venice, as well as other European locations. It is open to candidates aged 18 or older who hold a high-school diploma, regardless of prior flight experience. The initiative aims to train an increasing number of qualified pilots for Wizz Air’s operations in Italy and Central-Western Europe. Admission includes two online assessments and one in-person interview. Once selected, students begin training at Urbe Aero’s Rome campus, with benefits offered by the airline, including a job offer conditional on successful course completion, APS-MCC and Type Rating funded by the airline with repayment through a five-year bond, a training salary during the Type Rating, and free accommodation and transfers during the Type Rating.
Since the beginning of the partnership, around 70 Urbe Aero students have completed the selection process and begun their airline pilot careers with Wizz Air.
Urbe Aero Flight Academy is exhibiting at the European Aviation Training Summit (EATS) in Cascais, Portugal, from 5- 6 November at booth 105. Stop by to learn more.
