UWing Simulation has won the bid to supply two C172S Level 5 flight training devices to the Civil Aviation Flight University of China’s (CAFUC) Mianyang Branch. The new simulators will be used to support the optimization of the branch’s flight training system.

The Mianyang Branch, a core training base of CAFUC in southwest China, operates more than 50 training aircraft, including the C172 and PA44. In 2024, it reported a training volume of 74,400 hours and has cumulatively trained more than 12,000 domestic and international pilots.

The new C172S flight trainers comply with Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Regulation Part 60 (CCAR-60-R1) Level 5 standards and can replace certain aircraft training hours. The devices include a 1:1 cockpit with real components, the G1000 NXi avionics system, and a visual system supported by three 4K laser projectors and an optimized circular screen. The visual databases can be customized to global airports and cities, including detailed effects such as propeller operation. The instructor operating station features a semi-enclosed design to improve usability and maintenance access.

UWing Simulation is the first Chinese manufacturer to independently develop the Cessna C172 G1000NXi version flight trainer and obtain CAAC Level 5 certification. The company has previously delivered C172S FTDs to training institutions including Jiangxi Ganjiang General Aviation, Xi’an Aoxiang General Aviation, CAFUC’s Xinjin Branch, and the Singapore Flight Academy.

Delivery and certification for the Mianyang Branch devices are planned in collaboration with the institution.

UWing will be at The Asia Pacific Aviation Training Summit (APATS) in Singapore from 26-27 August at booth 113 to share more about their training solutions.
