Cathay Pacific has celebrated the graduation of 34 cadet pilots—the first cohort to complete their ground theory training at the airline’s own Cathay Academy. The ceremony took place on 16 May at Cathay City in Hong Kong, with Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation Clara Wong in attendance.

The graduates also received flight training at AeroGuard Flight Training Center in Arizona and Multi Crew Cooperation (MCC) training in simulators at Cathay Academy. All 34 cadets have now joined the airline as Second Officers.

The airline currently has over 500 cadets in training and plans to recruit more than 130 additional cadet pilots in 2025. Cathay’s in-house training programme is part of a broader effort to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as an international aviation hub and to provide comprehensive, high-quality pilot development locally.
